We are currently calling for proposals for ISEA2025 Academic Program!
30th International Symposium on Electronic Art in Seoul (24-30 May 2025)
Submission Deadline Fri, 15 November 2024
ISEA2025 welcome submissions that explore how the theme of ‘동동 (憧憧, Dong-Dong): Creators’ Universe’ is engaged, entangled, expanded, and established within the realms of electronic arts, creative technology, digital culture, and interdisciplinary art-science-technology collaborations.
■ Sub-themes
Introducing the four sub-themes for ISEA2025 academic submissions.
• Digital Heritage: We seek creative reinterpretations of tradition, blending mythical imagination with modern technology to explore new directions for a sustainable future, fostering a space for endless innovation and inclusivity.
• Techno-Human: We invite works that explore new life phenomena, evolving human identity, and the future of techno-humanity, reflecting on the values behind technological progress and the changing Earth environment.
• Future City: We invite creators to envision Seoul's future under the theme "Neo Futurama," focusing on 2050, an era of AI, hyper-convergence, and the technological Singularity, inspired by the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair.
• Space Creative & The Stars: ISEA2025's "Space Creative & The Stars" initiative explores diverse interpretations of 'space,' from the cosmic to the symbolic, inviting global thinkers to shape a new universe of "Dong-Dong" for humanity's future.
■ Special Tracks
A special track is a separate category derived from the three sub-themes: Digital Heritage, Techno-Human, and Space Creative and The Stars.
• 5th Summit on New Media Art Archiving: The 5th Summit on New Media Art Archiving, part of Digital Heritage, will bring together experts to discuss advancing media art preservation and explore sustainable practices in physical and digital archiving.
• Barriers and Alienation in Art X Tech Education: The Techno-Human special session, "Barriers and Alienation in Art X Tech Education," invites participants to share experiences with technology in art education and discuss ways to navigate challenges across various tech levels.
• Nam June Paik – Live Science Fiction Movie: As part of Space Creative & The Stars, "Nam June Paik – Live Science Fiction Movie," proposed by Nam June Paik Art Center, will gather experts to explore Paik's visionary ideas, challenging perceptions of space and expanding imagination through innovative discussions.
